We are so happy that you have chosen to consider us as adoptive parents for your baby. Getting to know us a little better will help make your difficult decision a little easier and give you peace in your heart that you have made the right decision. We admire your courage and respect the love you have for your baby. We share our story in hopes that you find us to be the couple who will provide a lifetime of love, security, and happiness, and a world of opportunities for your little one. If you give us the honor of becoming parents, your baby will be welcomed with unconditional, never-ending love from us and our entire family.
Our marriage of nine years is solid and is based on love, respect, honesty, and friendship. We had planned to start our family right away, but it didn’t work out that way. Our personal challenges with infertility have made us a stronger couple and we have decided that what we want more than anything is to be able to share ourselves, our love, and our life with a child. We have chosen to grow our family through adoption. Being able to provide your baby with a loving, supportive, stable family, a strong education, and a world full of opportunities are some of the most important gifts we can give to your baby.
We are an adventurous couple—we even began as a blind date 16 years ago! We continue to enjoy adventurous activities together, such as scuba diving, camping and hiking, and are looking forward to sharing our experiences with a child. We like to explore the world together, from hiking the Australian Outback, to visiting primitive villages along the Amazon River, and touring northern Europe. Our sense of adventure will bring your child to experience many wonderful things in life. Whether it’s a trip to the zoo, or traveling the world, we promise you that we will delight in sharing the experience in a way that helps your child grow and develop.
Cheryl about Brian: Brian is the balance and security in my life. From our very first overnight hiking trip in the woods, he has been my protector and “rock.” Brian is an engineer, which makes him very good at planning and researching. Brian has planned a stable and secure future for our family, which includes allowing me to be a stay-at-home Mom like I’ve always wanted to be. He plans incredible vacations which are fun, relaxing, and educational all at the same time! Brian is incredibly intelligent and has a wonderful sense of humor, unbelievable patience, and truly enjoys every moment life has to offer. Brian’s hobbies include woodworking and cooking, and he tackles many do-it-yourself projects around the house. Brian has always encouraged me to grow as a person and looks forward to doing the same for our child. He will be a wonderful father. I am truly blessed to have married a man like him!
Brian about Cheryl: Cheryl loves helping people, and that is one of the qualities that I admire about her. Cheryl has been a registered nurse for 16 years; I believe she is a great nurse because of her caring and compassionate nature, and the strong passion she has for helping others. She continues to cherish the letters of thanks from her patients because of her strong sentimental nature. Cheryl participates with a national team of volunteer medical personnel that travel to disaster areas to help people in need. She has seen the difference even a few people can make in the lives of others. Cheryl enjoys gardening, scrap-booking, and walking in her spare time. Family is very important to Cheryl. She enjoys spending time with our nieces and nephew, as well as the children our friends have raised. I know that Cheryl will be a loving, caring, and encouraging Mom!
Our families live on the East Coast. We spend time with them at every holiday and also a few times during the year. We visit Walt Disney World with Brian’s entire family every five years, and visit his Mom and Dad at their vacation home in Hilton Head. Cheryl’s family lives on a lake with lots of summer activities. We remain close with our siblings by phone and email between visits. Both families have strong bonds, values, and wonderful traditions that we will enjoy sharing with our children. We are enjoying their support and excitement for us during our adoption journey; they will provide wonderful support to us when we become parents.
We chose our home because of its country setting close to everything that we need. We live in a small subdivision on a one acre lot at the end of a cul-de-sac. The street is quiet and safe for the neighborhood children to play, where they ride their bikes and scooters and set up lemonade stands in the summer. The back of our wooded lot is fenced, and is big enough for an awesome playscape and even pony rides at birthday time! We love to grill out on our back deck and watch the deer graze behind our house. Being on top of a hill, we also have the best winter sledding in the neighborhood! Our home theater will be a wonderful retreat for family movie-time. We live in a top-rated school district with two community parks close by. The local hospital is one of the best. It’s the perfect community to raise a family.
We promise to commit our hearts to giving your baby a stable, loving home, and a lifetime of encouragement and support to help them achieve all of their dreams and goals. You have our promise that your child will know their adoption story, including your remarkable love for them, the respect you deserve, and admiration that we have for you. We thank you for considering us to be parents for your child. Neither one of us can adequately describe what a joy it will be, nor will we ever be able to thank you enough for your precious gift! You will always have a special place in our hearts. With respect and gratitude,
Cheryl and Brian
