Jesse & Maureen

Dear Birthmother,

We are Jesse and Maureen. Thank you very much for taking the time to learn about us. Since the beginning of our marriage we have considered providing a loving home for children through adoption. Five years ago, when Maureen found out she would be unable to conceive, we both knew that adoption was the right choice for us. We can imagine it must be an extremely difficult decision to make an adoption plan for your child, and we admire your courage and trust in doing so. Though we may not always understand it, we have faith that God has a plan and that life has a way of working out. We are committed to honoring your amazing gift by providing a safe and happy home and a life full of love and opportunity for your precious baby.

About Us

We started dating at the end of high school after getting to know one another through our church youth group. Although we attended different colleges, we remained a couple and have now been happily married for the past eight years. Our relationship is built on a strong foundation of friendship and trust, and our personalities complement one another very well. We love spending free time together traveling, doing craft projects, playing with our four entertaining and affectionate cats, and visiting with friends and family.

About Jesse (by Maureen)

Jesse is quiet by nature but is friendly and witty. He loves to spend time playing sports and games with kids, including our four godchildren. From watching his interactions with the children in our lives, I know he will be a wonderful father. Jesse has an enormous amount of patience and is able to relate to kids in an age-appropriate manner. Ever since he was a child Jesse has loved maps and mathematics; he now has a Master’s Degree in Geography and works for the state. His favorite hobby has always been bowling, and he participates in numerous leagues and tournaments. Jesse also enjoys golf, crochet, puzzles, poetry, and painting, and has donated over 80 units of blood products.

About Maureen (by Jesse)

Maureen is my best friend, a caring and devoted wife who is full of love and laughter. She has a very outgoing and generous personality and will be a natural mother—she has always been known as “Mother Mo” among our friends. Maureen’s compassionate nature has developed into a career as a medical professional, and she is currently finishing up her Master’s Degree to become a Physician Assistant. Maureen also takes pleasure in sewing, gardening, reading, movies, and cooking.

Our Home

Our home, where we have lived for about six years, has three bedrooms and is in very good condition. We enjoy working on remodeling and landscaping projects, and our yard is just right for playing catch, having a campfire, or watching the birds and squirrels. Our neighborhood is a great place to raise a family—there is an elementary school and playground at the end of our street, and there are many other families with children. Although we both plan to work full-time, we expect to have flexible schedules that will allow us to minimize the need for daycare services.

Our Family

We were both raised in loving, two-parent homes and remain close with our families. Both sets of parents live in the same town, about an hour and a half away from us. We frequently visit our hometown on weekends or our families come to see us. Jesse’s parents were both raised in Michigan and we enjoy day trips to see extended family around the state. Maureen’s parents were both raised out-of-state and have family spread across the country that we get to visit periodically.

Jesse has a younger brother, Jake, who is in graduate school in the same town we live in, and we enjoy seeing him often. Jesse and Jake especially like to play and watch sports together. We also have a very strong relationship with Maureen’s two older sisters, Jen and Deb, both of whom still live in our hometown. They each own horses and we take pleasure in spending time with them on their farms. Maureen’s sisters are both married and have children—our niece and two nephews, with whom we love playing games and having adventures. Some of the special activities we enjoy sharing with them include picking blueberries, going to baseball and football games, shopping at the farmer’s market, watching Fourth of July fireworks, and attending the Renaissance Festival. We are excited to share these traditions with our own children someday soon.

Our families serve as excellent role models of companionship, dedication, responsibility, and parenting, and they are all supportive of our decision to adopt. Jesse’s aunt and uncle have two adopted children and are open with us about sharing their experiences. They are very excited for us as we start our own family through adoption.

Our Promise

We promise to raise your child to the best of our abilities, providing the love and guidance that every child needs. We will always be honest and open with your child about their adoption and they will know that they are loved by two sets of parents. You can trust that your child will receive a good education and that we will encourage them to pursue their dreams.
