Rose

My name is Rose.
My 23 year old daughter, Jenny, already had two small sons when she faced an unplanned pregnancy for a third time. I am helping her raise them, and I love them so much, but I knew we couldn’t financially, emotionally, or physically handle another one. The father was no where in the picture, so what were we going to do?

When Jenny was five months along she finally decided on adoption. With Jenny’s circumstances we had to think of the baby and not our own feelings. This was the right decision. When we opened up the yellow pages we saw the ad for AAI and immediately called.

From the very beginning of the process, I was heavily involved. Our caseworker, Belinda, was great.
I won’t lie, it was a difficult experience. Did I really want to let strangers take care of my grandbaby? But when I met the adoptive parents that Jenny picked, I knew she had done the right thing. Dan and Julie are amazing. Knowing them has made the whole process so much better. They were in the delivery room with us and that really helped make the process easier. Still hard, but easier.

We bonded so much with them that I often miss them. We still e-mail on occasion and they send pictures of the baby every three months. They are wonderful people. Jenny made the right choice when she picked them.

The process was hard, but I know it was the right thing. My grandson looks like his adoptive father! I miss them and I know they are taking good care of him. I don’t have to worry if he is loved, I know he is. And now Jenny and I can move on.
