We chose adoption because we felt it was the best thing for our child. It was the hardest thing we have ever done, but we knew it was the right thing for the baby. When Susan was pregnant, we didn’t have stable housing and I wasn’t working. We knew that the baby needed more than we could give him. Almost anyone can have a baby, but not everyone is prepared to provide everything that a child needs.

We feel that the adoptive parents we chose were best for our son. They provided him with everything we couldn’t and will love him as much as we do. We chose a family who couldn’t get pregnant so that they could experience the joy and excitement of parenting. At first we didn’t think we wanted to meet the family, but as we talked with our caseworker during the pregnancy, we became more open to the idea. We realized that by meeting the adoptive parents and getting pictures and letters, it would allow our son to feel good about his adoption and give him information about us. We hope that in the future our lives will become more stable and look forward to whatever contact we may have.
