Dave and Wendy

Our son Dillan joined our family in September, 2005. We were able to be a part of his birth at the hospital, and bring him home at three days old. The experience is such a rewarding feeling of love, hope, and dreams. After four years of infertility treatments and many emotional roller coaster rides, we decided to begin the process of adoption. We attended an Adoption Associates, Inc. information meeting and left the meeting with excitement and fear that one day we could be parents. Domestic adoption was the choice we became hopeful with. Once we came home and many months went by, we went on with our lives and didn’t proceed with continuing the process past the information meeting. We did however, tell all of our friends and family that we wanted to adopt, but hadn’t yet started the process.

Everyone we talked to was told of our wish to adopt a child from Michigan. We never thought that our friends and family were actually listening and helping! In June of 2005, our friends told us about a young girl who was looking for a couple to adopt her child that would be born in three months. Could we be those parents? We immediately called AAI. We were given so much advice on how to contact the birth mom and what to say to her. We were able to contact the birth mom and talk to her. We couldn’t believe that she wanted us to be her child’s parents!

During the three months of preparing for our son to be born, we met with the birth mom, decorated our nursery, completed our home study, and waited for his arrival. Dillan is growing each day. He is smiling, cooing, crying, and looking beautiful. He is truly loved!
